Enrollment

Enrollment

Here in Arizona, families have the ability to choose among district and charter public schools, where they feel their children will get the best education. Charter schools are open-enrollment, non-profit, public schools that operate based on a contract with their authorizer. Ball Charter Schools provides parents and students an alternative to traditional public school systems. We have high expectations and standards and value the school-home partnership as essential for student success.

Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is the period prior to the start of each school year when parents/guardians can complete an application for each child to their desired school(s). Open enrollment dates for the upcoming school year will be in February 2021. Applications received after the Open Enrollment period will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Required Documentation for Enrollment

Enrollment application packets may be completed and brought at any time to the registrar during the current school year. Parents should complete the process by submitting a complete enrollment packet and presenting a birth certificate (original or certified copy), proof of residency and proof of immunizations.

Admissions

Ball Charter Schools may limit admissions based on age group or grade level, but will not limit admission based on ethnicity, national origin, gender, income level, disabling condition, or proficiency in English.

Entry of eligible students into any Ball Charter School is based on space availability. Preference for any available openings will be given to returning students and siblings of students currently enrolled at Ball Charter Schools and the children of staff and Board members.

Before becoming superintendent, I served for four years as high school principal at Cactus Shadows High School where we earned state and national honors as one of Newsweek Magazine’s Best High Schools in America. The Rodel Foundation awarded me the honor of being selected as an exemplary educational leader in 2014.

I moved to Arizona from my home state of Colorado where I had worked as a principal for six years in Garfield School District, for two years as principal for the Coalition of Essential Schools high school, and as Assistant to the Deputy Superintendent in Denver Public Schools. National honors include: The Authentic School Project, and a Gates Fellowship. I am a Gallup certified Perceiver and a contributor to The University of Northern Colorado’s Tointon Training Institute for school administration.
